Gene Simmons, iconic member of the rock band KISS, recently shared the tale of his singular encounter with marijuana intoxication. Despite maintaining a lifelong aversion to alcohol and drugs, Simmons reminisced about inadvertently consuming cannabis-laced brownies following a KISS performance in the 1970s.

During the latest episode of the podcast “Your Mom’s House with Christina P. and Tom Segura,” Simmons, joined by his son Nick Simmons, disclosed the amusing mishap. Nick highlighted his father’s ignorance of cannabis-infused edibles, leading him to consume six brownies without hesitation.

Describing the surreal experience, Simmons recounted feeling his surroundings expand while his head appeared to shrink to the size of an olive. Despite his attempts to appear composed, his perceptions were distorted, with his hands ballooning to cartoonish proportions.

Assisted by the editor of Creem magazine, Simmons navigated through a bizarre journey that included a surreal encounter at a Detroit diner, where he loudly requested a glass of milk, convinced his diminutive voice was unnoticed due to his perceived shrunken state.

Reflecting on his abstention from drugs and alcohol, Simmons attributed his decision to his late mother, a Holocaust survivor. He expressed a deep-seated desire never to disappoint her and viewed substance use as potentially heart-wrenching for her.

While Simmons’ foray into intoxication remains a memorable anecdote, he recently announced his inaugural solo concert following KISS’ retirement in December 2023.
