It’s been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and completely vanished. Viewers of the original Quantum Leap series from 1989 – 1993, followed Dr. Beckett leap through time from the 1953 – 1987 (with a couple trips outside his lifetime to 1862 and 1945) with the help of Admiral Al Calavicci and supercomputer Ziggy fixing people’s mistakes and making the historical timeline a better place.

Now, a new team has been assembled to RESTART the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it. Quantum Leap returns as a sequel to the original, set in 2022, features Dr. Ben Seong, a world-renown physicist who gets stuck in the 1980s with amnesia after using the Quantum Leap technology.

Addison Augustine is the Al Calavicci of the new series appearing to Dr. Seong as a hologram to communicate and help him navigate through the era and person he has leaped into. In the trailer below, we see Addison assist Dr. Seong as a getaway driver for a robbery, so anything goes in this new series.

In the original series, Sam Beckett never returned home in the final series, so we are wondering if he is still leaping through time and if there will be any eventual cross-over.

The new Quantum Leap series follows a chain of 80s & 90s series to get a sequel or reboot, most recently alongside The Wonder Years and soon to be released Night Court. Were shows just better back then or have people run out of ideas? (Or both?)

Quantum Leap premieres September 19th on NBC.

Let us know which show you with would get a reboot!
