One person remains in critical condition after a fire in St. Thomas retirement home broke out Saturday evening.

Police say that three others remain in hospital for injuries. Two staff members and a firefighter were also taken to hospital for smoke inhalation but have since been released.

The fire started around 9:30pm in one of the bedrooms of Carassent Cares Home. Some residents of the home were transferred to another facility in St. Thomas for the time being.

The Ontario Fire Marshall has been brought in to investigate, and the cause is not yet known.
