Oscars adding new popular film category!

If you a fan of the academy awards but feel it never represents your favourite films then the change announced today is for you!  The Academy is adding an award to honor achievement in popular film so the films we actually go see like an Avengers, Mamma Mia or Jurasic park could potentially win an Oscar.

The Academy hopes this will attract more viewers which were way down this year.    Critics of course feel this addition of popcorn films cheapens the Oscars.

They are also going to changing the length of the show to 3 hours by giving away some of the awards during the commerical breaks and then airing highlights when they come back live.

The next Oscars are Feb 24^th
