London’s three NDP MPP’s have sent a strongly worded letter to the province demanding something be done to address a funding shortage at Anova, a London based women’s support agency.
Last week it was announced that Anova would be eliminating a full-time position at its walk-in counselling and support center because of a lack of funding.
The letter, addressed to Attorney General Caroline Mulroney and Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Lisa MacLeod, calls the government’ silence on the issue unacceptable, adding it puts the lives of women and children at risk.
Since 2016, Anova has provided shelter, support counselling and resources for abused women and their children and anyone suffering gender based violence.
