Earlier this week in Austin Texas a Clark Griswold-themed holiday display caught the a passerby for all the wrong reasons.

The Heerlein family was trying to win a neighborhood decoration contest with a display paying homage to a scene from “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” in which Clark Griswold dangles from his roof while putting up lights. The display included a dummy wearing a Griswold mask and clothes that look exactly like the ones worn by Chevy Chase in the film, with a ladder rigged underneath the dummy to look like it was tipping over.

Unfortunately the display was so realistic that a man walking by mistook the dummy for a real person and ended up calling 911 for help.  The entire thing was caught on camera through the house security system.

GRISWOLD CHRISTMAS DECOR: All a Northwest Austin homeowner wanted was to win their annual neighborhood contest. Instead, they nearly gave a passerby a heart attack!
