Let’s face it, the 80’s was one of the best decades for music.   Everything was big, over the top and every song no matter what the style was simply in the TOP 40!

Everyone has songs that defined them and here are some of the songs from the 80’s that I definitely latched onto for whatever reason!

Europe – The Final Countdown

Not sure why this keyboard anthem stuck with me but it inspired me to be the only Europe fan in Southwestern Ontario!

Human League – Fascination

I love the gritty keyboards in this song and it really got me into the New Wave.

Hall & Oates – Private Eyes

This was from the first album I ever bought…followed by Men At Work – Business As Usual!

Rob Base & DJ Easy Rock – It Takes Two

This song was one of the ones that got me into Rap and Hip Hop.  Classic Track!

Prince – Let’s Go Crazy

We all know how much influence Prince had on me…and continues to do so!

Time – Jungle Love

Oh…another funky Prince produced group but with their own identity…yes please!  Morris Day is the best.

Rush – Big Money

I know…of all the Rush songs why this one?  Even I can’t answer that question…

A-ha – Take On Me

The video is incredible and it allowed me to sing falsetto in the car.

Wham – Careless Whisper

The saxophone still haunts me in my dreams…

Duran Duran – Hungry Like the Wolf

Duran Duran are still one of my favourite bands.  A great mix of good songs and style plus I wanted to look like them but never succeeded.

Those are some of the songs which influenced me in the 80’s for good or the bad.  I could do another 10 but I will leave you with those for now!
