Although it won’t hit theatres for at least for another year, it has been confirmed that there will be a second instalment of Wonder Woman and below is a list of everything that you’ll need to know for Wonder Woman 2.

WHEN IS THE RELEASE DATE: 

  • Although it was confirmed that Wonder Woman 2 will hit theatres December 2019, it has been pushed up to November 2019.

 

WHO WILL RETURN?

  • Beauty Gal Gadot will reprise her role as Wonder Woman herself and Patty Jenkins will return to the film to produce, direct and co-write.

 

WHO WILL PLAY THE FILM’S VILLAIN?

  • Director Patty Jenkins confirmed via Twitter that comedian Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) will play the film’s newest villain, Cheetah.  Patty tweeted, “So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can’t wait to finally work with one of my favourites. And SO excited by what we have planned,” 

 

 

 

WHO IS CHEETAH?

  • Although there have only been a few Cheetahs in DC Comics, the original appeared in the 1943 version of Wonder Woman.  This is where it get’s juicy – Cheetah was actually an associate of Diana and then became super jealous of Wonder Woman and then became her enemy.

 

WHAT ABOUT CHRIS PINE? 

  • According to ELLE.com, Patty explained that Steve Trevor, who Chris plays in the film ‘didn’t absorb any magical powers in Themyscira aka his character is dead.  She also says Steve returning is slim to none.

 

NEW SETTING, NEW FILM

  • The first instalment of Wonder Woman was set in the era of World War 1 however, for the second film, Patty explains that she’s taking Diana to a brand new setting.  She told The Hollywood Reporter, “She’s more than ready to return to the character for a contemporary-set Wonder Woman sequel.  The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right.”

 

ANY OTHER NEW CHARACTERS?

  • Patty says, “There will be a couple new unbelievable characters who I’m so excited about.”
