How would you describe your community’s spirit as well as its passion for hockey?
As a hockey mom and former President of Lucan Minor Hockey, I know all about Lucan’s community spirit and love of hockey! Hockey was a way of life for our family as our children grew up. We witnessed incredible wins and heartbreaking losses. All the while developing life lasting friendships and memories that will continue to bring us joy! It always amazed me, to see the community come out and support our hockey teams. With no relation to the team, except it was from Lucan. My involvement with Lucan Minor Hockey enabled me to be involved in some incredible events.I watched as our girls’ program grew from 1 team to a full slate of teams that continue to be competitive in all age groups when it comes to OWHA Provincials! We were a satellite site in 2007/8 for the World Under 17 Tournament. Our alumni and NHL star Logan Couture came back to host an NHL All star game.Every year the annual Fire & Ice Charity game pits the Coaches against the Fire Department and the whole town comes out!

What Arena project would most benefit from the prize money?
$250 000 would go a long way in making much needed improvements to our beloved rink! Improvements and enhancements to our dressing rooms. Improve the seating-we could replace the traditional plank seating with stadium bucket seats! Bringing the arena up to 2018 energy efficient standards would also be a great thing! The arena is slated to undergo a major renovation and the prize that comes with becoming Hockeyville would help with that budget!

Why Should your community be the next Kraft Hockeyville?
Lucan should be the next Kraft Hockeyville, because Lucan loves hockey. Supporting all levels of hockey is not new to our community. Whether it is an OMHA Championship game,an OWHA Provincial Qualifier, a Lambton Middlesex Playoff game, an early Saturday morning Tyke game, a Jr C game, the annual Fire and Ice Charity game, the community comes out. While we all like to win, the most important thing is to support our young players and develop them not only into the players they should be, but to the community minded players they should be. Hockey is a team sport and our community builds and supports our teams. Lucan is already Hockeyville!
